LAS VEGAS, NV – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) has officially unveiled ten Tesla Cybertrucks that will integrate into their patrol fleet. Sheriff Kevin McMahill showcased these high-tech vehicles on Tuesday, October 28th, during an event held at the Otonomus Hotel.
A key highlight of the presentation was the fact that the full cost of the vehicles was covered by a generous donation from Ben and Felicia Horowitz, ensuring no cost was passed on to taxpayers. The funds also equipped the vehicles for police use.
The Cybertrucks will be assigned to patrol officers, with one distributed to each area command throughout the valley. These vehicles will be equipped with essential tactical tools to assist officers in critical service calls, including standoffs and shootings.
The addition of these vehicles is part of Sheriff McMahill’s broader initiative to transform the LVMPD into the most technologically advanced police department in the country. This initiative complements other recent advancements such as the Joint Emergency Training Institute, the First Response Drone Unit, and the use of remotely operated drones.
LVMPD expressed gratitude to Unplugged Performance and Upfit for outfitting the vehicles for patrol functions, as well as to Ink and Architectural Expo for the wrapping of the Cybertrucks.
The event took place at the Otonomus Hotel, located at 5050 West Russell Road, notable as the world’s first truly AI-driven sustainable hotel, boasting 180 hotel suites and 120 private residential units.
